 The breed is a working breed and so dogs that have been successfully worked are marked as workers on each pedigree. Making it easier for anyone to look at a pedigree and see who the workers are.  Also identify on our merit list is the kind of work qualifying dogs do (above or ground work ect) 

The APTA is committed to supplying owners with the most accurate pedigree's possible. For this reason we are the only registration known with a "Pedigree Panel" that consists of several fanciers of the breed with over 100 years combined experience with the breed. While nothing is perfect in the world of pedigrees we believe this helps ensure the most accurate pedigrees possible

Because the Patterdale Terrier is a working breed the workers in the breed deserve to get the spotlight. For this reason Working Terriers can earn working titles  as well as Merit Points (and thus be place on our Merit Point list) for consistently proving  their working abilities and documenting the work they do. The APTA is for those who want to hear more about the workers of the breed.

Inaccurate Pedigree's and paper hanging are a problem with this breed. While you will find inaccurate pedigrees in ANY AND ALL other breeds, this breed is notorious for  being riddled with false pedigrees.

  While it can not address the past, DNA profiling helps to prove the accuracy of pedigrees going forward. We encourage DNA Profiling and identify members of the breed that have been profiled. Once a Dog and Bitch have been DNA profiled you can 100% ensure the accuracy of the next generation.
